I am Kelsey Schnabel, owner of Forsythia Doula Services. I live in Eugene, Oregon with my husband and our son. I have spent the last four years working as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the Mother-Baby unit at Riverbend Hospital in Springfield, Oregon, where I've learned so much about myself and my place in the birth world. The birth of my sons were quite possibly the most beautiful moments of my life so far. Both births were intimate and empowering. Our first son is two years old, and our second son was stillborn at 39 weeks. It is a very sad and difficult thing to miss my son so much, but I believe that with that experience I am able to offer something very special to my clients. I am planning to begin training to become a certified bereavement doula within the next year.
I want to help other families have the experience they hope for when welcoming their children earth side. I want them to know their options and feel safe, heard, and advocated for. I am positive, knowledgable, and gentle. My hope is that I can encourage other women and their families that they can have the healthy birth that they envision, and also reassure and support them if things don't go exactly as they had pictured. I also offer placenta encapsulation.
My Training and certification: Trained birth doula working toward certification with Birth Arts International. Currently certifying for placenta encapsulation with International Placenta and Postpartum Association.
